Overview
Technical description of the route:
The tour starts at Bike Village in Agnano (Pi) from here you reach the Ciclovia Puccini, a cycle path that runs along the Serchio river to Ponte a Moriano: one of the last towns in the Lucchesia before entering Garfagnana. We will take this road up to Lucca, we will cross different natural sceneries along the rapid currents of the Serchio river which, after having traveled many kilometers, goes towards the sea. Along the way we will cross what many centuries ago was the border between the Pisan Republic and Lucca. Several towers, a large fortress and a castle perched on a hill will immerse us in a distant past that reaches us today, with these border fortifications. We will continue along the river with its waterfalls and its islands of white stones, until we reach the city of Lucca where it will be possible to cycle along the 4km elevated path that runs along the ancient city walls. Once you have visited the city you will return to Monte Pisano, this time passing by the Gattaiola vineyards where you can choose to stop in a local winery and taste the delicious wine sitting among the rows.
